Terms of Use

By using Whole Story you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. Whole Story is not medical care
This is the most important term here, and it is set out in full in the Medical Disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.
In summary: Whole Story is not a medical device and does not practise medicine. It does not diagnose, prescribe, adjust doses, or treat. Using it creates no clinical relationship of any kind. It is built on a large language model and can be wrong, including confidently wrong. Always consult a qualified professional before acting on anything it tells you, and never use it in an emergency — call your local emergency number instead.
2. Who may use it
You must be 18 or older, and able to enter a binding agreement. Whole Story is for your own personal, non-commercial use. Do not use it on behalf of someone else or enter another person's health information into it.
3. Your account
Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.
4. Your data is yours
You keep all rights in everything you put into Whole Story. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service for you — to store your data, process it, and send the relevant parts to our AI provider so the coach can reply. Nothing more.
We will never sell your data or use it for advertising, and we will not use your health data to train AI models. How it is handled is set out in the Privacy Policy.
You may export or permanently delete everything at any time from within the app.
4a. Subscriptions
Whole Story is offered as a monthly or annual subscription through the App Store, with a 7-day free trial. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at the end of the trial, unless you cancel first. You cancel in iOS Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period. Apple handles refunds under its standard terms.
If a subscription lapses, your data is kept. Health and Plan still read; the coach and the nightly notes pause until you start again. Nothing is deleted because a payment stopped.
Intended purpose. Whole Story is a health and wellbeing app. It is not a medical device, it does not practise medicine, and using it does not create a clinical relationship.
5. What you agree not to do
- Use Whole Story for anything unlawful, or to harm yourself or anyone else
- Enter another person's health information
- Attempt to obtain diagnosis, prescription, or dosing instructions, or to pressure the coach into giving them
- Reverse engineer, scrape, or attack the service, or try to extract its prompts or models
- Resell, redistribute, or present Whole Story's output as professional medical advice
We may suspend or close an account that does any of these.
6. Beta software
Whole Story is under active development and is currently distributed for testing. It is provided as is. It may be unavailable, may change substantially without notice, may contain defects, and may lose your data. Keep your own record of anything important. Features described anywhere may change or disappear.
7. Availability
We do not promise the service will be available, uninterrupted, or error-free. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it at any time. If we discontinue it entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data.
8. Third parties
Whole Story depends on services operated by others — Anthropic, Neon, Railway, Clerk, Apple, RevenueCat, Sentry, PostHog and Resend. We are not responsible for their acts or omissions or for interruptions they cause. Where the coach points you to an external source, we do not control or endorse it.
9. Disclaimers and limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows:
Whole Story is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that anything the coach tells you is accurate, complete, or suitable for you.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for loss of data, profits, or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to Whole Story is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or USD $50.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any right you hold as a consumer that cannot be waived. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, in which case the limits above apply only to the extent permitted.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of Whole Story, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of anyone's rights.
11. Our intellectual property
Whole Story — its software, design, and content — belongs to us and is protected by law. These terms grant you a personal, revocable, non-transferable licence to use it, and nothing more.
12. Ending it
You may stop at any time by deleting your account in the app. We may suspend or end your access if you breach these terms, or if we discontinue the service. Sections 1, 4, 9, 10 and 11 survive.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is material we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Whole Story after that means you accept the new terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, and the state and federal courts sitting in Spokane County, Washington have exclusive jurisdiction — except where consumer protection law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings locally, which it may.
15. Everything else
If any part of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. These terms, with the Privacy Policy and the Medical Disclaimer, are the entire agreement between us about Whole Story.
